"Back in college, I gravitated toward healthcare as a career because I was always interested in science and had an analytical mind, plus good hand-eye coordination. Becoming a surgeon crossed my mind, although I figured in the end I'd become a dentist like my stepfather. I probably would never have considered becoming a foot and ankle doctor if not for my brief stint as a shoe salesman while I was working my way through college. Some of the older salesmen were students in podiatry school, and I learned from them that podiatry was an interesting, challenging, results-oriented profession and eventually followed in their footsteps. When I see patients I've treated walk out of my office, pain-free, it only reinforces the fact that I made the right decision by becoming a foot and ankle specialist."
